Brandon Flowers has announced that new music is in progress from The Killers. However, fans will face a longer wait than anticipated for the upcoming album.
The rock band, based in Las Vegas, released their seventh album, “Pressure Measure,” in 2021, achieving a Number One position in the UK charts. Following their UK performances in August and September 2023, the band has finalized plans for their next collective music release.
Frontman Brandon stated that this upcoming album will be their “finest” work to date. Nevertheless, the release will be delayed as he intends to concentrate on his two forthcoming solo albums before reuniting with Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci Jr, and Mark Stoermer to produce music together.
Flowers mentioned to The Sun that he anticipates the most exceptional Killers record to arrive in 2027. He disclosed that he has completed work on one solo record, with another nearing completion, contemplating the logistical arrangements for their release.
Reflecting on the band’s hiatus from music production, Brandon mentioned the extensive tours they undertook in 2022 and 2023 for “Imploding The Mirage” which influenced the delay. In 2024, The Killers commemorated the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Hot Fuss,” with a residency at Caesar’s Palace and the release of their greatest hits album, “Rebel Diamonds,” while intermittently writing new material.
Brandon discussed the band’s musical direction, revealing a return to rock ‘n’ roll, departing from their previous synth-pop sound. He emphasized the challenges of creating a synth-pop album and the band’s evolution towards a more mature rock style given their two-decade career in the evolving rock radio landscape.
Recently, Brandon performed The Killers’ hit “When You Were Young” with Dawes at A Concert for Altadena, also featuring a rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Promised Land.” The event aimed to raise funds for the victims of the previous year’s Eaton Fire.
Joining the stage towards the event’s conclusion, Brandon delivered a captivating performance of “When You Were Young,” culminating in a collaborative rendition of “The Promised Land” with the entire line-up.
