Trade negotiations between the two countries collapsed last week, with Prime Minister Mark Carney attributing the breakdown to unacceptable measures introduced by the Trump administration. Subsequently, the U.S. implemented 50 percent tariffs on Canadian goods, prompting Canada to announce retaliatory measures effective September 8.
