Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla, communicated with Jeffrey Epstein, also a billionaire, to inquire about the optimal time to visit Epstein’s controversial island for a lively event.
Musk expressed interest in visiting Epstein years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for child sex offenses. In a November 2012 email from Musk to Epstein, the tech mogul inquired, “What day/night will be the wildest party on =our [your] island?”
Epstein responded by asking how many people would be joining Musk for the helicopter trip to the island. Musk’s reply suggested that only he and his then-wife, Talulah Riley, were planning to visit the island.

Further exchanges between Musk and Epstein indicated ongoing communication into early 2014. Musk asked Epstein in a December 25, 2013 email about their plans to visit the island on the 2nd of a month.
However, Musk later informed Epstein on December 30 that he couldn’t make it due to scheduling conflicts in New York. Musk expressed disappointment at missing out on the anticipated fun time together and suggested rescheduling in the near future.
The documents do not suggest any wrongdoing, as many individuals featured in previous releases have denied any misconduct related to Epstein.
In a 2012 message from Epstein about Musk attending an event organized by him, an unnamed sender mentioned preparations for the gathering. Epstein mentioned Musk coming for lunch at his house in another message. These messages were disclosed as part of the recent Epstein Files release by the US Department of Justice.
The messages may prompt questions about Musk’s ties to Epstein, as Musk had previously stated that he declined to visit Epstein’s island in the US Virgin Islands. Musk defended himself in response to being named in previous Epstein Files, criticizing the media for misrepresentation.
Musk faced controversy last year for suggesting on social media that Donald Trump was preventing the release of the Epstein Files because of Trump’s involvement. This led to a brief rift between Musk and Trump, though they have since been seen together, indicating a more amicable relationship.
