After the Montreal Roses were eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the team decided to part ways with their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, made the announcement on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his contributions to establishing the women’s soccer club. The decision to make a coaching change was described as difficult but necessary to bring a new energy for the rest of the season and the club’s growth.
Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in the regular season. Rositoiu was appointed as head coach in September 2024 for the team’s debut season in the NSL starting in 2025.
Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach while the club seeks a permanent replacement for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto this Sunday.
