ICE Officer’s Fatal Shots into Mother’s Head: Autopsy

An examination of the death of Renee Good, a mother, revealed which of the three gunshots fired by an ICE officer in Minneapolis caused her demise. The autopsy, conducted at the request of Renee’s family, indicated that she sustained gunshot wounds to her left forearm and breast, with the latter not affecting any vital organs. However, neither of these injuries were deemed life-threatening.

Another bullet entered Renee’s head near the temple and exited on the right side, as reported by attorneys representing her family. Additionally, the autopsy noted a graze wound. The family’s legal representatives emphasized that the autopsy was conducted by a reputable independent medical pathologist. Attorney Antonio M. Romanucci, known for his work on George Floyd’s case, expressed confidence in the evidence gathered and to be collected as part of the ongoing investigation.

The video evidence from the incident on January 7, 2026, was described as clear by the family’s lawyers, especially when assessed against standards of reasonable policing and the overall circumstances. The official autopsy report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office regarding the January 7 incident has not been released yet.

Renee, aged 37, was shot while seated in her SUV during an encounter involving ICE agent Jonathan Ross. The sequence of events involved Ross recording Renee and her partner before positioning himself in front of their vehicle. Subsequently, another ICE agent instructed Renee to exit the SUV, leading to her driving the car forward. Conflicting reports arose regarding whether Renee intentionally struck Ross with the vehicle as captured in video footage.

After the shooting, Ross could be heard making derogatory remarks before Renee’s SUV collided with parked cars. The incident has sparked a polarized reaction in the American public, with conservatives defending Ross’s actions and liberals condemning the shooting.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Renee as a “domestic terrorist” without presenting any supporting evidence, asserting that Ross acted in self-defense. In contrast, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized federal officials and demanded ICE to leave the city of Minnesota. An FBI investigation into the shooting is currently underway.
