“Fake Traffic Lawyer Causes Fatal Crash: Prison Sentence Imposed”

A heartless individual who pretended to be a traffic lawyer on social media has been sentenced to prison after causing a fatal collision that resulted in the death of an elderly woman.

The man, identified as Leigh Sutherland, was driving a worn-out Ford Mondeo with faulty brakes at high speed when the accident occurred on the Condorrat Ring Road in Lanarkshire, Scotland. His reckless driving led to a collision with a Peugeot 108 driven by Margaret Allan, a 77-year-old woman, who tragically succumbed to her injuries following the crash on June 15, 2023. Another young passenger was also injured in the incident.

Despite the severity of the situation, Sutherland callously attempted to shift blame onto the elderly victim by stating, “It would not have happened if the f***ing b***h had not pulled out.” Following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow, he was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and subsequently handed a nine-year prison sentence along with a 13-year driving ban.

Known for his presence on TikTok where he masqueraded as a defense attorney, dressed as a police officer, and reviewed supermarket products, Sutherland’s deceptive online persona contrasted sharply with his real-life actions that led to the tragic loss of life. After the collision, witnesses observed the elderly driver with head injuries and in a state of confusion, while the child passenger was present in the vehicle.

Further investigations into the crash revealed that the Mondeo’s anti-lock braking system was malfunctioning, and the vehicle’s battery was inadequately secured. It was disclosed that Sutherland was driving above the speed limit in a defective car, with multiple witnesses attesting to his excessive speed on the road that day.

During the trial, prosecutor Adrian Stalker emphasized that Sutherland’s driving behavior was not merely an error in judgment but a deliberate act of endangerment. Describing the car as “defective” and the driving as excessively fast, the court concluded that Sutherland’s actions directly contributed to the tragic outcome of the collision.

Sutherland, originally from Cumbernauld but residing in Newcastle at the time of the incident, had been out on bail during the trial but was remanded in custody by Judge Tom Hughes pending sentencing. The court proceedings highlighted the severity of Sutherland’s reckless driving behavior and the devastating consequences it had on innocent lives.
