Logan Taylor, a native of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, was already towering over his soccer opponents before his 10th birthday, standing at over six feet tall. Despite facing challenges due to his size, he transitioned to football after a coach saw his potential and encouraged him to join a local team. Now, at 24 years old, Taylor, a six-foot-seven-inch, 312-pound offensive lineman, is realizing his dream in Los Angeles as he undergoes his first NFL training camp with the Chargers, having been selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. He holds the distinction of being the highest-selected Nova Scotian in the NFL Draft.
Taylor’s journey to the NFL involved leaving his hometown at the age of 14 and moving to various locations to pursue his football aspirations. While Nova Scotia has produced notable hockey stars, Taylor is among the few born-and-raised Nova Scotians to have played in the NFL. Despite facing skepticism about his NFL ambitions, Taylor persevered and found support from his billet parents, Kathy and Brian Mason.
Described as a gentle giant, Taylor credits the Masons as being instrumental in his development and considers them as part of his family. His academic and football journey took him to Virginia and Massachusetts before landing at Boston College. During the NFL Draft, Taylor received the life-changing call from the Chargers while surrounded by his loved ones in Lunenburg.
Now residing in Los Angeles, Taylor’s daily routine revolves around rigorous team activities and training sessions as he competes for a spot on the Chargers’ active roster. While he enjoys the California lifestyle, Taylor remains focused on his football career, acknowledging the competitive nature of the sport and the dedication required to succeed.
Looking ahead, Taylor aims to inspire aspiring football players from Nova Scotia and emphasizes the importance of dedication and hard work in achieving one’s goals. As he continues his NFL journey, Taylor remains committed to his passion for football and strives to make his mark in the league.
