“UK Government Prepared for Potential Fall of Iranian Regime”

The UK government has indicated that it would not mourn the fall of the Iranian regime, with Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander labeling Iran a hostile state aligned with Russia. Amid widespread protests in Iran calling for a change in government, at least 116 lives have been lost in the resulting unrest.

Alexander emphasized the UK’s view of Iran as a security threat in the Middle East and beyond, citing the regime’s repressive nature towards its own people. She stressed the need to quell the violence in Iran as a top priority.

Furthermore, Alexander highlighted Iran’s destabilizing influence and its collaboration with Vladimir Putin to circumvent sanctions by transporting oil. When asked if the UK would lament the overthrow of the Iranian government, Alexander suggested a similar sentiment would be expressed.

The Labour representative expressed the UK’s desire for a peaceful transition of power in the event of a regime change in Iran, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic values and ensuring fundamental freedoms for the Iranian population.

Amid escalating tensions, Iran’s parliament speaker issued a warning that the US and Israel would be legitimate targets if the US were to strike the Islamic Republic, echoing chants of “Death to America” in the Iranian parliament.

President Trump voiced support for the protesters in Iran, offering assistance while reports surfaced of military options being considered but no final decision made. Alexander refrained from commenting on foreign policy matters of other nations but stressed the UK’s monitoring of developments in Iran and urged Iranian authorities to safeguard citizens’ lives and freedoms, exercise restraint in response to protests, and ensure access to information.

The US State Department cautioned against underestimating President Trump’s resolve, emphasizing that he follows through on his statements. Any potential decision for military action would ultimately lie with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with the US military prepared in the Middle East to defend interests, partners, and allies.
