A gruesome discovery was made on a bridge in Tijuana, Baja California, as the lifeless body of a man was found hanging with a disturbing message nearby. The victim, identified as “Cabezón,” was left on the bridge with a banner signed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), indicating retribution. Alongside the victim, a black plastic box containing human remains was found by state agents approximately 100 meters away from the scene.
Law enforcement officials responded to reports of the incident on the Tijuana-Tecate highway and Paseo San Pedro early Wednesday morning. The victim displayed clear signs of violence, prompting authorities to cordon off the area for further investigation. Details regarding the victim’s identity and the cause of death have not been disclosed at this time.
This incident adds to the high homicide rate in Tijuana, with over 40 homicides reported this month alone. Criminal organizations often use public displays of violence, such as hanging bodies in prominent locations, as a means of intimidation. Notorious for its violent tactics, the CJNG has made headlines for its brutal actions under the leadership of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “El Mencho,” a top target for law enforcement agencies.
In a separate development, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum revealed a significant drop in daily homicides since taking office, a response to pressure from the Trump administration to combat organized crime. Mexico has seen a decline in its homicide rate, recording 17.5 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2025, down from previous years. President Sheinbaum has emphasized extradition and cooperation with the US on border security, rejecting the notion of foreign military intervention in Mexico. Despite recent discussions with President Trump, Sheinbaum reiterated that US troop deployment in Mexico is not under consideration, emphasizing mutual respect for sovereignty and collaboration on various issues including security and trade.
