BT Broadband customers in the UK are in for a pleasant surprise as BT Mobile is set to re-enter the market. Following a pause in new customer sign-ups in 2023 in favor of the EE network brand, BT has shifted its strategy. Existing broadband customers will soon have access to BT-branded SIM deals once again.
The relaunch signifies BT’s commitment to revitalizing its well-established brand, which took a backseat to EE in recent years. CEO Allison Kirkby, who assumed leadership in 2024, aims to reaffirm BT’s position among UK households to prevent its brand from fading from public awareness.
Emphasizing the need to invest in their brands, products, and services, Kirkby announced the reintroduction of BT Mobile during an event at Wembley. This move will place BT in direct competition with major providers like Vodafone and O2, as well as budget-friendly networks such as Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and SMARTY.
While specific pricing details are yet to be disclosed, BT plans to offer bundled packages that include broadband, landline, and mobile SIM services on a single monthly bill. Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore views this relaunch as a strategic effort by BT to stay relevant in the increasingly competitive telecoms market.
BT also revealed its partnership as the official telecoms provider for the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament, which will be held in Britain and Ireland. Pescatore underlined the importance of reconnecting with users, households, and businesses, citing the UEFA Euro 2028 deal as a significant opportunity to showcase BT’s scale, relevance, and service delivery.
Highlighting the unifying power of sports, Pescatore stressed that events like UEFA Euro 2028 can bring people together, create shared experiences, and foster emotional connections unlike any other platform.
