Trump Warns Iran: Negotiate or Face Consequences

President Donald Trump has issued a new warning to Iran, urging the leadership to engage in negotiations or face consequences worse than previous strikes on its nuclear facilities. In a recent statement on Truth Social, Trump mentioned a significant naval force heading towards Iran with great strength and determination.

Following Iran’s foreign minister’s remarks that Tehran had not sought talks with the United States and advised against war threats for diplomatic engagement, Trump seems to have set a new deadline as the USS Abraham Lincoln moves closer to the Middle East, ready for potential action against Iran. Trump emphasized the readiness of the fleet and expressed hope for a fair deal that excludes nuclear weapons.

Trump called on Iran to swiftly come to the negotiating table, warning of severe consequences if a deal is not reached, surpassing the previous Operation Midnight Hammer which targeted Iranian nuclear installations. The President formally informed Congress of the strikes in June 2025, citing the protection of U.S. national interests and support for Israel as reasons for the operation.

Time is of the essence, Trump emphasized, urging Iran to make a deal and avoid a repeat of past actions. Initially focusing on backing anti-regime protesters in Iran, Trump’s stance has evolved towards seeking a comprehensive agreement with Iran’s governing authorities.

Amid concerns of a possible U.S. military strike on Iran, Iranian officials have engaged with neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, who have indicated a refusal to permit their airspace for any attacks. The Iranian foreign minister stressed the importance of diplomacy over military threats for effective negotiations based on mutual respect and benefit.

According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, over 6,200 individuals, including protesters, government forces, children, and civilians, have been killed or detained in Iran amidst the recent unrest.
