“Spanish Singer Julio Iglesias Faces Sexual Abuse Allegations”

Spanish singer Julio Iglesias is facing allegations of sexual abuse from two women. One of the accusers claimed that she was coerced into engaging in sexual activities with the 82-year-old musician, describing instances of physical and verbal abuse, including slapping. The other woman stated that she experienced insults, humiliation, and unwanted touching.

The accusations are currently under investigation by the Spanish judiciary, with the Aduiencia Nacional, a high court in Spain, confirming the initiation of preliminary criminal investigation proceedings. The court emphasized the confidentiality of the ongoing investigation.

Using the pseudonym Rebeca to protect her identity, one of the alleged victims expressed feeling dehumanized and mistreated, comparing her experience to being treated like an object or a slave. Another woman, referred to as Laura, recounted an incident where Iglesias allegedly kissed her without consent and touched her inappropriately.

In response to the allegations, a woman identified as a manager of one of Iglesias’ properties dismissed the claims as baseless, expressing admiration and respect for the singer as a great artist and individual known for his humility, generosity, and respect towards women.

Spanish prosecutors have confirmed the receipt of a formal complaint against Julio Iglesias and stated that the investigation is ongoing. The Aduiencia Nacional mentioned that due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and to protect the alleged victims, further details cannot be disclosed.

Julio Iglesias gained popularity in the UK with his hit song “Begin the Beguine,” which topped the charts in 1981. He has sold over 300 million records worldwide.

Efforts to reach Julio Iglesias for comment have been made by eldiario.es, while The Mirror has approached his spokesperson for a statement.
