When I initiated this campaign, I emphasized the idea of starting anew, ushering in a fresh era for Wales. The goal is not to maintain the status quo, but to create a Wales that tangibly improves the lives of its people. Out in the community, there is a palpable sense of frustration and concern over unfairness.
The public is not demanding perfection; they are seeking changes that they can experience directly. More predictability, enhanced stability, and reduced anxiety about upcoming expenses are what people desire. Nigel Farage and his party are treating Welsh voters as gullible, presenting recycled Conservative policies with no genuine solutions, merely using Wales as a means to an end. Their lack of concern for Wales and absence of a strategic plan for the nation’s future are evident.
While Plaid Cymru claims to advocate for Wales, their actions do not always align with the concerns of the Welsh populace. When it came to safeguarding retail and emergency workers, they opposed stronger safeguards. When faced with supporting justice for the Hillsborough families, they chose not to offer their backing. Their priorities seem to prioritize conflict with Westminster over fairness.
Such politics do not resonate with the majority of Welsh citizens. While it may be easy for me to echo empty rhetoric and make superficial promises, I refuse to say anything simply for the sake of winning votes. I will only communicate what I genuinely believe we can achieve.
The electorate does not want the next Senedd session to be consumed by endless debates about Wales’ position within the United Kingdom. They crave a government that actively enhances the healthcare system, eases the financial burden on families, and cultivates a robust, prosperous economy.
Our proposed plan aims to provide tangible relief for the cost of living. We intend to cap single bus fares at £2 across Wales, maintain £1 fares for young individuals, and offer free travel for those aged 60 and above, putting money back into people’s pockets every week.
Moreover, we plan to establish 20,000 new childcare spots, extending services from nine months old to facilitate parents’ ability to work. We commit to not increasing income tax, recognizing the financial pressures faced by families as a starting point for fairness.
Our vision includes the establishment of an Energy Independent Wales, generating employment opportunities in clean energy and bolstering the nation’s energy security. We will introduce a Lifelong Retraining Guarantee to enable individuals to acquire new skills.
While our healthcare system is a source of pride, the prolonged wait times for treatment are concerning. Hence, we will introduce a new NHS agreement, investing £4 billion in constructing hospitals for the future and enhancing access to mental health support for timely care delivery. We have already made strides in reducing waiting lists, with consecutive months showing decreases. However, we acknowledge the public’s desire for swifter progress, and we are committed to moving further in the next phase.
This election transcends political theatrics; it is fundamentally about shaping the future of Wales. Claims of the need for reform are baseless; Wales is not in disarray but rather teeming with untapped potential.
The primary focus of this election is to actualize that potential into tangible improvements in people’s daily lives. It signifies a new era for Wales, characterized by palpable fairness and progress.
