“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in the UK”

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. These plans aim to compete with popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. According to Sky, the new plans could save consumers over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon.

The first option includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, with a £15 upfront fee. This package provides features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, Paul Sweeney, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible to customers. The company aims to simplify the user experience and offer affordability with these new plans.

Previously, Sky primarily offered Protect Smart Home Insurance, which bundled cameras and alarms. With the introduction of these standalone services, Sky’s home security devices are now more widely accessible to consumers.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
