SilkFred Online Fashion Marketplace Enters Administration

SilkFred, an online fashion marketplace, has gone into administration, impacting its 500 partner fashion brands such as Apricot, Goddiva, Pretty Lavish, and Lily and Lionel. The company’s administration was announced recently on Instagram. Quantuma, a financial advisory firm, has been appointed to manage the process.

Customers have been informed that no further orders will be fulfilled, and efforts will be made to refund those whose items have not been shipped yet. However, there may be challenges in obtaining refunds directly from SilkFred. If awaiting an order, customers are advised to contact their credit or debit card provider for potential refund assistance.

SilkFred expressed deep sadness over the turn of events, attributing the collapse to the cost-of-living crisis and heightened competition in the fashion industry. The company acknowledged its achievements in empowering women to find stylish outfits and supporting independent designers. Founded in 2011 by Emma Watkinson, Stephen Jackson, and Kate Jackson, SilkFred thanked its customers, brands, and team for their support.

Watkinson, in a social media post, expressed gratitude to backers, customers, and partners for their contributions to SilkFred’s journey. She praised independent brand owners for their dedication and highlighted the positive impact SilkFred had in fostering small businesses and emerging designers. The company’s loyal customer base was also recognized for their role in creating opportunities and realizing dreams for many individuals.
