Emergency responders, including police officers, paramedics, and an air ambulance, swiftly reacted to a distressing incident where schoolchildren fell from the upper level of a double-decker bus. The event occurred on Bolton Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield on January 7, resulting in severe injuries for some of the individuals involved.

According to Greater Manchester Police, three high school students reportedly fell through a window on the bus’s top deck and were promptly transported to the hospital with potentially serious injuries. The authorities confirmed that the road has reopened after initial investigations by emergency teams.

Inspector Simon Barrie from the Wigan District emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that although the incident caused disruption, the injured children are receiving necessary medical care and are not believed to be in life-threatening condition. The police are treating the incident as an unfortunate accident and are actively investigating to determine the precise circumstances.

Local council members expressed concern for the affected individuals, with a councillor from Ashton-in-Makerfield South Ward confirming that support is being extended to the schools involved.
