A missile strike by Russian forces resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals in a village located in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, as confirmed by Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack on the populated area of Pechenihy, emphasizing the destruction caused to essential facilities amidst residential neighborhoods. Images shared by Zelenskyy depicted the aftermath of the attack, showing damaged structures, burning vehicles, and rescue operations in progress.
Following the incident, Zelenskyy vowed a retaliatory response to the Russian assault. Additionally, the governor of the affected region, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that 17 individuals sustained injuries during the strike. The attack resulted in extensive damage to private residences, a café, a post office, a store, and several vehicles in the village.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, initial findings suggest that Russia employed two small Banderol cruise missiles in the assault. A local official informed the public broadcaster Suspilne that the central part of the village, housing the café, post office, and shops, bore the brunt of the strikes.
In a separate development, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive targeting Moscow and its surroundings, deploying 620 drones in the early hours of Tuesday. The mayor of Kyiv disclosed that Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over the Moscow region, leading to emergency response efforts at crash sites. The drones reportedly struck various locations, including a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries, resulting in injuries, including a 10-year-old girl.
Furthermore, other Russian-controlled regions, such as Crimea, experienced heavy drone attacks from Ukraine. Krymenergo, the primary power supplier in Crimea, reported that several areas faced power disruptions due to the drone assaults, impacting the region’s energy supply.
Notably, Russia issued a warning to Britain regarding its alleged supply of drones to Ukraine for use in attacks on Russian territory. The Russian embassy in London cautioned of consequences for Britain’s involvement in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression. The British Defence Ministry, in response, emphasized its commitment to assisting Ukraine in defending itself and providing necessary equipment.
Britain had previously announced plans to deliver 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial financial aid package.
