“Ongoing Unrest in Iran: Death Toll Hits 65”

Protests have continued in Iran for nearly two weeks, with the government acknowledging the demonstrations while the country remains isolated from the international community. The ongoing unrest has made it challenging to assess the situation due to the internet shutdown and severed phone lines. The death toll has risen to at least 65 individuals, with over 2,300 people detained, as reported by the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency.

Iranian state TV has been reporting security force casualties while emphasizing control over the nation. Despite warnings from the US, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has hinted at an impending crackdown. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed support for the Iranian people, cautioning against underestimating President Trump’s resolve.

Saturday marked the beginning of the workweek in Iran, where schools and universities reportedly conducted online classes. State TV aired a patriotic musical piece by Iranian composer Majid Entezami, commemorating Iran’s victory in the 1982 liberation of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq war. This music has served as a backdrop to pro-government demonstrations and has been associated with recent protests over the death of Mahsa Amini.

Contrary to official reports of peace in most cities at night, online videos have surfaced showing significant demonstrations, such as in Tehran’s Saadat Abad area. Surveillance footage released by the Fars news agency depicted violent scenes in Isfahan, including protesters attacking a government compound. Reports included the deaths of security personnel in various provinces, with footage showing a funeral service in Qom.

The unrest in Iran has seen clashes, fires, and acts of violence, with thousands of Iranians taking to the streets to express their discontent. The death toll has continued to climb, reaching at least 65 individuals during the ongoing uprising.
