Three security personnel from a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing charges of assault following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, as per the authorities. Teddy Allen was assaulted at the nightclub in the early hours of Aug. 3, leading to his hospitalization, according to the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, stated the police in a news release on Thursday. They were subsequently released under undertakings.
Although the nightclub was not specifically named by the police, they disclosed that it was located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home, as indicated in a statement released by the team on Thursday. Expressing his sentiments, Allen stated that the assault “should never have happened nor should it happen to anyone for any reason,” emphasizing his resilience by noting, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
