McDonald’s Fans Upset Over £2 Hash Brown Price

McDonald’s enthusiasts are expressing frustration over the nearly £2 price tag for a hash brown at select restaurants, as highlighted in a viral social media post.

The post featured an image of a McDonald’s menu board indicating the hash brown priced at £1.99 in the specific outlet visited by the individual. It has garnered over 459,000 views and a caption stating, “£2 for a single hash brown. We’re calling it quits.”

Responses to the post included remarks such as, “It’s becoming absurd, it used to be a budget-friendly choice,” and “For that price, you might as well get a sausage sandwich.” Another commenter simply wrote, “Unbelievable.”

Others chimed in, noting, “Those hash browns are amazing, but £2 is too steep,” and recalling, “I remember when they were 59p.”

In response, a McDonald’s representative explained, “Many of our restaurants are independently owned and operated, allowing franchisees to set their pricing. Despite potential variations, all are committed to offering quality and value to customers.”

The discussion follows McDonald’s announcement of adjustments to its MyMcDonald’s Rewards program, increasing the points required for redeeming free items. Currently, popular items like a Big Mac or Chicken Nuggets necessitate 5,500 points, set to rise to 6,500 points starting March 17. Customers earn 100 points for every £1 spent at McDonald’s.

Furthermore, the loyalty scheme revisions are attributed to the impact of escalating food and supply expenses, as stated by a McDonald’s spokesperson, who also highlighted the introduction of new redemption options like Chicken Selects and Sausage Sandwiches to cater to customer preferences.
