A man, Paul Knight, has confessed to killing his wife, Isobella Knight, by strangling her during an outburst. The incident took place in their home in Burton Latimer, Northants, on June 13 last year. Knight admitted to the crime at Northampton Crown Court, where it was revealed that he attacked Isobella while their two daughters were asleep in the house.
Following the murder, Knight asked his mother to care for their children, citing illness for both himself and Isobella. Subsequently, he made unsuccessful suicide attempts before crashing his car in a nearby McDonald’s parking lot the next day.
Police investigating the car crash found Izzy’s body at their home. A post-mortem examination confirmed that she died from neck pressure. The court learned that Knight assaulted his wife in a violent fit. He is now in custody awaiting sentencing scheduled for January 29.
Detective Chief Inspector Torie Harrison expressed relief that Knight confessed to the crime, acknowledging the tragedy of violence against a woman who had a promising future. Izzy’s family remembered her as a remarkable person with numerous positive qualities, emphasizing the loss felt by her two daughters.
Her family paid tribute to Izzy, highlighting her beauty inside and out. Describing her as a loving mother, a cherished daughter, a supportive sister, a talented artist, and a dear friend, they pledged to preserve her memory for her children. Izzy’s father emphasized her role as a nurturing mother and vowed to ensure her legacy lives on through her children.
