“Grand National Field Set: 34 Horses Ready for Aintree”

The latest stage of scratchings for the upcoming Grand National has seen ten horses removed from contention, leaving a field of 34 competitors set to race at Aintree. As the historic £1 million National event approaches in less than a month, National Hunt enthusiasts are gearing up for the challenging four-mile, two-and-a-half furlong race that will test the skills of the finest staying chasers navigating 30 fences.

Since 2024, the field size for the National has been capped at 34 horses, down from the previous 40, giving us a glimpse of the potential lineup for the race on April 11. Recent scratchings have included notable horses such as Gold Cup contender Grey Dawning, Bet365 Gold Cup winner Resplendent Grey, and Gentlemansgame among others.

The final field now showcases top contenders like 2024 winner I Am Maximus and Bobbyjo Chase victor Grangeclare West from the stables of Willie Mullins. However, the list of 34 may see further changes as the event draws near, with some horses possibly opting to compete in the Irish National on April 6.

Among the hopeful participants is Haiti Couleurs, a Welsh and Irish National champion trained by Rebecca Curtis. The gelding, coming off a Gold Cup appearance at Cheltenham, is eyeing a strong performance at Aintree, provided his condition remains favorable according to his trainer’s recent statements.

With preparations underway, the anticipation builds for the Grand National as fans eagerly await the thrilling showdown at Aintree.
