Defending champions Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson secured two wins on Thursday at the Montreal Elite stop on the FIVB Beach Pro Tour circuit. The Toronto pair triumphed over Brazil’s Carolina Horta and Ana Patricia Ramos with scores of 21-12, 21-12 in the first match, followed by a 21-13, 21-16 victory against the Lithuanian duo Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte.
Having claimed titles in 2023 and 2025, Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson are aiming for a third consecutive championship. In a revengeful turn, they outscored Ramos and Eduarda Lisboa, who bested them in the beach volleyball gold-medal match at the Paris Olympics in 2024, with a tally of 26-18 in attack points and 8-1 in serves.
Lea Monkhouse of Mississauga and Marie-Alex Belanger of Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez faced a defeat against Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova of Latvia with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-15. On the men’s side, Samuel Schachter of Richmond Hill and Jonathan Pickett of Wiarton split their matches, while Cameron Chadwick of Barrie and Steven Abrams of Georgetown suffered two losses.
The competition at Parc Jean-Drapeau will continue until Sunday.
