“Corgi Race Vilnius: 150 Dogs Compete in International Event”

Approximately 150 corgis gathered for an international event in Vilnius, Lithuania, celebrating the small herding dogs that originated in Wales. The event included various activities such as a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a competition to determine the loudest bark.

The fifth Corgi Race Vilnius attracted participants from nine countries, including Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Germany, Ukraine, Czech Republic, the United States, and Britain, known for its association with the breed, famously favored by Queen Elizabeth II.

Organizer Edvinas Miskas mentioned that the event has significantly grown over the years, with 150 corgis from multiple countries participating, including a representative from Wales, the breed’s place of origin. The competition featured 94 dogs in the main running event, culminating in a 25-meter final race where American corgi GG emerged as the winner.

Apart from speed, the event highlighted other skills of the dogs and their owners through activities like a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a loudest bark competition. The costume parade showcased creativity, with corgis dressed in various outfits, while the “smartest nose” challenge was won by Latvian corgis Tora and Rusty. Mr. Corgington claimed victory in the loudest bark competition.

The event not only celebrated the agility of the corgis but also emphasized the bond between the dogs and their owners. The competition brought together both seasoned participants and newcomers, showcasing the growing popularity of the event as Vilnius establishes itself as the European capital of corgis.
