“Climber Rescued After 100+ Wasp Stings in B.C.”

A climber in British Columbia required helicopter rescue after sustaining over 100 wasp stings in a remote area north of Vancouver. Lions Bay Search and Rescue reported that the female climber was on Redoubt Wall near Loggers Creek when she encountered the swarm of insects.

Following concerns of a potential severe allergic reaction, a ground team was dispatched with emergency medical supplies. Due to the climber’s condition, deemed unfit for hiking out, a helicopter extraction was requested from North Shore Rescue.

Rescuers were deployed to assist in airlifting the climber from the heavily wooded area, and she was subsequently handed over to B.C. Emergency Health Services for further treatment. Redoubt Wall is situated approximately 40 kilometers north of Vancouver along the Sea to Sky Highway.

Lions Bay Search and Rescue emphasized the rapid escalation of wasp encounters into serious medical emergencies, especially when a person sustains a high number of stings.
