“Saturday Night Live UK Roasts Prince Harry & Meghan”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s much-anticipated arrival in the UK received comedic treatment on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live UK, where they were humorously depicted facing a lukewarm reception typical of British humor.

During the show’s Season 2 premiere, a skit lasting four minutes and 52 seconds took jabs at Prince Harry and Meghan, focusing on their partnership with Netflix, Meghan’s entertainment and business endeavors, and the ongoing controversies within the Royal Family related to racial issues.

The sketch opened with actors portraying Harry and Meghan, played by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye, visiting King Charles and Queen Camilla, depicted by Larry Dean and Emma Sidi, at a mock version of Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The scene humorously showcased the royal couple seeking assistance upon their return to the UK, only to face criticism from King Charles regarding their financial decisions post-royal life, including their Netflix deal.

In a light-hearted exchange, Charles lamented the couple’s spending of the Netflix money, to which Harry comically responded, drawing laughter from the audience. The skit further referenced the couple’s Netflix projects, including the popular docuseries “Harry & Meghan” and Meghan’s lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan,” where she promoted her brand, As Ever, featuring jams, teas, and honeys.

The sketch also satirically alluded to the couple’s controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, particularly highlighting a moment where Camilla comments on Meghan’s skin tone. The segment later transitioned to a spoof of Britain’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham, portrayed by George Fouracres, underscoring Burnham’s desire to be seen as a “regular guy.”

Prince Harry, Meghan, and their two children recently returned to the UK from the US, with their children enrolled in British schools. The family’s move back to the UK has sparked speculation, as they are expected to reside privately outside of London, although no official reason has been provided for their relocation.
