DeForest expressed that like many residents in the west end of Ottawa, they experience anxiety when alerted about potential severe weather conditions. Following another 23.5 millimetres of rainfall on Monday, some homes in the city were flooded for the second time in just over a month, causing distress among residents.
She mentioned that the community is on high alert, with residents like herself and her neighbors refraining from leaving their homes simultaneously to ensure constant surveillance. The uncertainty of whether the rainfall might cause damage to their properties or nearby homes adds to their apprehension.
