Fury and Joshua Set for Heavyweight Showdown

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly come to an agreement to face off in an exciting heavyweight clash, with key details now public. Speculation arose in December about the long-anticipated showdown between the two, set to happen in 2026. However, following Joshua’s recent victory over Jake Paul during Christmas, a tragic car accident in Nigeria claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

Despite concerns that Joshua’s fighting career might be over after the accident, the former heavyweight champion is back in light training, hinting at a potential comeback to the ring this summer. Talks suggest a match against former rival Dillian Whyte before a possible showdown with Fury.

Boxing journalist Gareth A Davies confirmed that both Fury and Joshua have officially agreed to the fight. Davies disclosed on talkSPORT that the fight is already signed and sealed, with arrangements in progress. He mentioned that the event might be broadcasted on Netflix, likely happening towards the end of this year or early next year, while Joshua is expected to return to action in June or July. Davies emphasized that the fight is on the horizon and will materialize.

Netflix is set to broadcast Fury’s comeback on April 11, following his brief retirement from boxing last year. The ‘Gypsy King’ is scheduled to face Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Netflix has gained prominence in the boxing world, airing blockbuster matches featuring renowned fighters like Paul, Alvarez, Taylor, Serrano, and Tyson.

Joshua is nearing a full training regimen for his potential ring return later this year. Despite the setbacks, his promoter, Eddie Hearn, remains optimistic about a potential bout between Fury and Joshua, possibly happening at the end of this year or early 2027. Hearn clarified that Joshua’s return to the ring is being carefully planned, with considerations for his physical well-being post-accident, aiming for a return in the late summer months.
