“Samsung Users Face Gmail Flickering Glitch”

Numerous users, particularly those with Samsung devices, have encountered a disruptive screen flickering issue while utilizing the Gmail app. Some users have reported instances where text disappears entirely or is replaced by blank white boxes when accessing their emails.

Expressing their frustration, Gmail enthusiasts have turned to social media to voice their grievances about this technical glitch. One user named Jeremiah vented on X, stating, “@gmail, when can we expect Android to function correctly on folding phones like my Samsung Fold? The persistent flickering on the inner screen for the past four days is completely unacceptable.”

Similar concerns have been raised on Google’s support forums, with one user detailing their struggle: “Whenever I open an email, the screen flickers, rendering it impossible to read. I have attempted various troubleshooting steps such as force-stopping the app, clearing the cache, rebooting my tablet, and updating all components, but the issue persists.”

Google’s product expert, Kimiya Kitani, has indicated that the problem seems to be associated with Android System WebView, a pivotal Android element enabling apps to showcase web content within the application.

Kitani mentioned, “It appears that certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets, are encountering intermittent challenges with Android System WebView, and this issue has been escalated to Google for further investigation.”

While the exact number of affected users remains uncertain, reports suggest that Samsung foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most severely impacted.

In the interim, a temporary solution has been proposed to alleviate the problem. Kitani recommends rotating the device, as this action often halts the screen flickering.

The suggested workaround is straightforward: open the email in portrait mode, switch the device to landscape mode until the screen displays correctly, and then revert to portrait mode.

For now, this method seems to be the simplest resolution while awaiting a permanent fix from Google.
