Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various parts of the UK.
Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted whenever the average temperature in a specific area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. In cases of prolonged cold spells, multiple payments may be received.

The Mirror recently disclosed that 451 postcode areas have become eligible for Cold Weather Payments this year. Individuals receiving specific benefits or mortgage support are entitled to these payments.
Payments are typically deposited directly into the recipient’s bank account within 14 working days if eligible. However, applications are required for individuals with a baby or children under five joining the household.
Managed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Cold Weather Payments program is scheduled to continue until March 31, 2026.
Unlike in Scotland, where they have been replaced by the Winter Heating Payment worth £59.75, Cold Weather Payments are not available.
