“Pride of Britain Winners Celebrate with Caribbean Cruises”

A devoted football enthusiast who managed to raise more than £260,000 for charity through the sale of samosas. A courageous mother who plunged into the ocean to rescue a 10-year-old boy from drowning. And a resilient five-year-old girl who displayed remarkable bravery in rebuilding her life after losing both legs.

These exceptional individuals were among the distinguished honorees at the 2024 Pride of Britain Awards, selected from a vast pool of public nominations. The accolades were bestowed during a grand ceremony in London, co-hosted by Ashley Banjo and Carol Vorderman.

Adding to the evening’s excitement was a surprise announcement by P&O Cruises, the new primary sponsor of the Pride of Britain Awards, who generously gifted each of the 12 winners with a cruise vacation – a chance to create unforgettable memories with their loved ones.

We caught up with three of the recipients who embarked on a 14-night Caribbean voyage aboard the Britannia, where they explored eight picturesque islands and indulged in top-tier entertainment offerings.

Aiyla Mota, the Child of Courage recipient, faced a life-threatening ordeal at the age of four when she battled sepsis, leading to the amputation of both her legs and fingers. Despite the harrowing experience, Aiyla, now five, exhibited remarkable resilience, earning her the Pride of Britain Award as one of the youngest ever recipients.

Her mother, Eulanda, shared, “Aiyla has always been full of life, and despite her challenges, she has retained her vibrant spirit, becoming even more confident and exuberant. It’s as if she’s living life to the fullest after receiving a second chance.”

Following the award presentation by P&O Cruises, Aiyla, accompanied by her mother, grandmother Trisha, and Eulanda’s partner Louis, embarked on a Caribbean cruise aboard the Britannia, relishing the ship’s numerous dining options, entertainment venues, and swimming pools.

“The cruise was an incredible experience, and we are immensely grateful to P&O Cruises for this amazing opportunity,” expressed Eulanda. “Aiyla particularly enjoyed the kids’ club, entertainment, and island excursions, especially the beaches and rainforest adventures.”

Emily Greenwood, recognized for her Outstanding Bravery, leaped into action during a beach outing in Cornwall with her disabled son, Isaac, when she saved a boy caught in a riptide. Her heroic act earned her a Pride of Britain Award and a Caribbean cruise, where she, along with her family, savored the luxury and relaxation offered onboard.

Manny Singh Kang, named the ITV Fundraiser of the Year, devised a unique fundraising approach by selling samosas at Wolverhampton Wanderers matches and organizing charity walks and cycles, amassing over £260,000 for Dementia UK. His exceptional efforts led to a Caribbean cruise with his family, allowing him to unwind and enjoy the breathtaking island landscapes.
