“Virgin Media Slashes Gig1 Broadband Price to Record Low”

Virgin Media has recently slashed the price of its fastest broadband offering to an unprecedented low. The provider has initiated a surprise sale, reducing the cost of its ultra-fast Gig1 Fibre Broadband by over £70.

This broadband package promises lightning-fast speeds of up to 1,130Mbps, typically priced at £29.99 per month. However, it is now available for just £26.99, resulting in a total saving of £72 over the 24-month contract, translating to approximately 87p per day.

Virgin claims that this offer represents the “lowest ever price” for its Gig1 plan. With such high speeds, users can download a feature-length HD film in under 30 seconds and have a 50GB PS5 game ready to play in less than seven minutes.

While households with 70Mbps speeds may experience game downloads taking over 90 minutes, Virgin’s faster connection ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and quick downloads.

It’s important to note that the discounted rate of £26.99 will increase twice within the minimum term, rising to £30.99 from April 2027 and £34.99 from April 2028. Additionally, the 1,130Mbps speeds may not be available in all UK locations, so potential customers should verify availability using Virgin’s postcode checker.

Virgin Media’s Gig1 Fibre Broadband is now priced at a record low of £26.99 per month, offering a significant saving of £72 throughout the 24-month contract. Compared to competitors like Sky, Virgin’s deal presents an attractive option with faster speeds at a lower cost.

For instance, while Sky has reduced its comparable 900Mbps plan to £28, it remains pricier than Virgin’s offering. Similarly, BT’s 900Mbps connection comes at a higher cost of £37.99, prompting consumers to explore alternative network providers that may offer competitive prices.

Community Fibre, serving London and select south-east locations, is currently providing 1Gbps speeds for £25 per month, with the first three months free and prices fixed for the contract’s duration. However, it’s essential for users to assess their speed requirements before committing to a broadband plan.

Different households have varying needs, with smaller setups potentially managing well with speeds around 100Mbps, while larger households requiring at least 300Mbps for seamless connectivity. Choosing Virgin’s 1Gbps fibre is akin to having a high-speed motorway directly into your home, ensuring a smooth online experience.
