A tragic incident unfolded when a 12-year-old girl shot her father before taking her own life. Emma Brown shot her father, Daniel Brown, in the stomach at their residence in Poolville, Texas, on September 20, 2022. While her father survived the attack, Emma succumbed to her self-inflicted gunshot wound two days later in the hospital.
A disturbing photo emerged showing Emma and her father posing with firearms and ammunition on a table. Following this photo, Emma carried out her plan, which involved harming her entire family and pets. She had collaborated with another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin, Texas, with whom she had planned to flee to Georgia. The second girl, who remains unidentified, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Authorities were alerted to the incident when deputies responded to a shooting and found Emma with a gunshot wound to her head on the street, while her father was discovered inside the house with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Investigations revealed that Emma had been plotting the killings for weeks and had been in contact with the girl from Lufkin regarding their plans.
After shooting her father, Emma walked a short distance down the driveway before turning the gun on herself. Emergency responders heard that Emma had shot her father upon arriving at the scene. Subsequently, the family home installed a gate with a ‘No Trespassing’ sign.
An autopsy conducted by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Emma’s cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Her father, who had been injured but survived, was expected to recover from his wounds.
