Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Parenting Journey After Husband’s Passing

Kelly Clarkson recently provided an update on her children, marking five months since the passing of their father. The renowned singer’s former partner, Brandon Blackstock, lost his battle with melanoma after a courageous three-year fight in August 2025. The couple shared two kids, 11-year-old River and nine-year-old Remington, also known as Remy.

During a Q&A session on The Kelly Clarkson Show’s official YouTube channel, Kelly interacted with fans and shared insights into her daily joys. She mentioned cherishing moments with her children, especially enjoying cuddles with them at their current age where they are independent yet still love snuggling.

Amidst recent family challenges, Kelly emphasized spending more bedtime moments with her kids, allowing them to sleep with her more frequently. She highlighted the special conversations and closeness these moments bring, describing it as her favorite time of the day.

Kelly, 43, and Brandon ended their nine-year marriage in 2022. Brandon’s family confirmed his passing in August the previous year, thanking well-wishers for their support and requesting privacy during their time of grief.

Brandon, a talent manager and former stepson of country star Reba McEntire, was survived by his children with Kelly, as well as children from a previous marriage. Kelly made a return to her talk show for the Season 7 premiere, where she emotionally honored bus drivers who aided in rescuing children during fatal floods in Texas.
