Jill Biden’s former spouse has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife after a domestic disturbance at their residence, authorities reported.
Bill Stevenson, aged 77, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the passing of Linda Stevenson, 64, on Monday, following an investigation by police that spanned several weeks. Law enforcement officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to a domestic altercation at the Stevenson’s home in Oak Hill, Wilmington, Delaware, on the night of December 28.
Linda was discovered unresponsive in the living room, and despite emergency responders administering life-saving measures, she was later pronounced deceased.
The New Castle County Police Department announced in a press release that Bill was formally accused of first-degree murder and apprehended without incident. He is currently detained on a $500,000 bail.
During the time of Linda’s demise, law enforcement stated in a released statement: “Officers promptly conducted life-saving procedures; nevertheless, despite their efforts, Linda was later declared deceased.”
The cause of Linda’s passing has not been disclosed as of yet.
Bill was formerly married to Jill from 1970 to 1975. Following their separation, Jill went on to marry Joe Biden, who later became the 46th President of the United States in 2021.
