The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory on Wednesday at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim contributed 19 points, while Syla Swords added 15 to Canada’s winning score.
Canada took a commanding 23-4 lead early in the game at Arena Astros and further extended their advantage to 46-11 by halftime. The ongoing eight-team qualifier event is set to continue until Sunday.
Earlier in the tournament, Canada secured a 72-57 triumph against Senegal on Monday. Their next match will be against the host country, Mexico, scheduled for Thursday. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments set for February 2028.
