“BT Unveils Smart Hub 3 with Enhanced Security & Connectivity”

BT has introduced a new method for accessing the internet, offering more than just basic connectivity. The latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router from the company is set to launch in UK households soon, boasting enhanced connectivity and additional security features.

The router comes equipped with technology that can automatically detect and alert users of harmful websites, providing a preemptive warning against potential malware and online threats. Furthermore, it has the capability to identify suspicious activities by hackers attempting to breach smart home devices like internet-connected cameras, effectively blocking such unauthorized access.

Users will have the ability to monitor any identified threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature within the MyBT app. These added security features aim to enhance online safety for households and proactively safeguard against cyberattacks.

In addition to security enhancements, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance. It supports Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which helps extend signal coverage throughout the home and eliminate weak signal areas.

Based on images previewed by Mirror Online, the Smart Hub 3 flaunts a sleek and minimalist design, featuring a small BT logo at its center.

It is worth noting that the router supports Wi-Fi 6 instead of the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard found on some competing devices, such as EE routers. While Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability, the majority of current devices do not yet support this standard. Hence, Wi-Fi 6 remains a suitable option for most households, representing a significant improvement over older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 technologies.

To acquire the new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be made available to new customers, with some existing users also eligible for an upgrade.

Regarding the distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6 enhances wireless performance by boosting speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to its predecessors. On the other hand, Wi-Fi 7 advances further with wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, making it particularly beneficial for gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home configurations.

For current users, Wi-Fi 6 remains a solid choice, while Wi-Fi 7 provides a more future-proof solution.
