Glenn Byrne displayed a positive attitude, engaging in conversations and laughter after being hospitalized following his defeat to William Crolla. The Irish boxer suffered his first professional loss when Crolla, brother of former WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla, stopped him in the seventh round at Planet Ice, Altrincham.

During the fight, Byrne knocked down Crolla multiple times, leading many to believe the match should have been ended earlier.
