Selma Blair’s team has released a statement addressing the actor’s recent arrest following an alleged incident on a flight on Oct. 11. The representative emphasized that the public narrative surrounding the incident has been primarily based on a police statement and an old headline.
Blair was taken into custody after allegedly causing harm to two flight attendants during a flight from Los Angeles to New York. Subsequently, she was charged with assaulting a police officer and a nurse at the hospital. The statement expressed gratitude towards a few journalists who reported on Selma as a person rather than just a headline.
During a court appearance on Oct. 12, Blair pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and was released on bail. Her representative clarified that she experienced a medical emergency during the flight and had no intention of causing harm to anyone.
According to the charging documents, Blair kicked a police officer around the face, neck, and chest while being secured to a stretcher at the hospital. It was also mentioned that the actress, who has multiple sclerosis, missed doses of crucial medication leading to severe confusion and disorientation during the flight.
The statement further addressed Blair’s medical condition and advocacy work, emphasizing that she continues to be a vocal advocate for disability and multiple sclerosis communities. It was clarified that Blair’s actions were not intentional and were influenced by her health conditions.
Despite the recent incident, Blair has been actively involved in various projects, including her upcoming film. Her team urged the public to consider all the facts before passing judgment on the situation.
