“Montreal Police Apprehend Murder Suspect in Niagara Falls Case”

Authorities have apprehended one of the two suspects sought in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Niagara Falls on July 16. Josta MacNeal was taken into custody by the Montreal Police Service and is set to be extradited to Niagara Falls. The arrest is linked to the death of 35-year-old Mitchell Snoddon, with MacNeal facing a charge of second-degree murder, as announced by the Niagara Regional Police Service.

Initially reported as 30 years old, MacNeal was apprehended while her accomplice, Maaroof Bangi, previously identified as 23, remains at large. The Niagara police have labeled Bangi as armed and dangerous due to the absence of a recovered firearm.

A police statement advised the public not to approach Bangi if spotted but to contact emergency services immediately. They also urged Bangi to seek legal counsel and surrender himself to the authorities.

The incident, which took place at an apartment complex on Thorold Stone Road, was reported as a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence. The police had released images of the suspects earlier, seeking information from the public on their whereabouts.

The suspects were initially reported as traveling in a 2022-2026 Nissan Rogue SUV but were later spotted in a 2016 Toyota Camry with distinct damages, last sighted on Highway 45 in Hastings, Ontario.

Authorities recovered a Mazda CX5 believed to have been used by the suspects, noting that the pair may attempt to alter their appearances to avoid detection by changing their hair length, color, makeup, clothing, and facial hair.

Individuals with information are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) to provide anonymous tips.
