Israeli Airstrike Kills Child in Gaza Strip

An Israeli airstrike in central Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, one of whom was a three-year-old child, according to health officials. The strike near a bakery in Deir al-Balah claimed the lives of Tayyem Hamdan, 3, and Hussam Nusair, along with causing injuries to several others.

The Israeli military reported that the strike targeted and eliminated a Hamas militant, identifying Nusair as someone involved in attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has not yet responded to these allegations.

Despite a U.S.-backed ceasefire last October that reduced major conflicts in the region, Israeli military actions have persisted, citing the need to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants.

Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire terms and hindering the implementation of a broader plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the Gaza conflict, which includes steps like Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

Since the ceasefire came into effect last October, over 1,300 Palestinians in Gaza have lost their lives, as reported by Gazan health officials, while the Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of four Israeli soldiers.
