Twelve regions across the UK are preparing for significant snowfall and a drop in temperatures towards the end of this month, as per the most recent weather data. Updated weather maps from forecasters WXCharts indicate that wintry weather is expected to sweep through the United Kingdom on January 15.
The most intense snowfall is forecasted for central Scotland, with snow depths potentially reaching 28cm in Cairngorms National Park. Northern and central parts of Scotland could see snow accumulation ranging from 3cm to 27cm.
In southern Scotland, lighter snowfall up to 2cm is anticipated, while the Lake District is likely to witness around 1cm of snow. The coldest temperatures are projected for central Scotland, with temperatures plummeting to as low as -8°C in Cairngorms National Park. Cities in Scotland such as Aberdeen and Glasgow are expected to have temperatures hovering between -1°C and -7°C.
Northern regions of England should prepare for temperatures between 0°C and -2°C, while the rest of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland are predicted to experience milder conditions with temperatures ranging from 1°C to 5°C, as reported by the Express.
The Met Office’s forecast for the upcoming period states, “Changeable and occasionally unsettled conditions are expected across the UK during this period. Low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic will dominate, resulting in showers or longer spells of rain across much of the UK.”
The outlook further mentions, “Some brief periods of mainly dry weather are expected between weather systems. Overall, temperatures are anticipated to be near or slightly above average for this time of year.”
Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland are the regions where varied weather conditions will prevail in the coming days.
