“Pop Duo The Cheeky Girls Transition to Car Sales”

Iconic pop duo The Cheeky Girls, known for their hits in the early 2000s, have reportedly transitioned to working at car dealerships, temporarily setting aside their musical careers. Comprising identical twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia, the Romanian pair gained fame after appearing on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and achieving multiple top ten hits, including the Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum).

Having sold millions of records and attained household name status, the 43-year-old twins are currently employed as salespeople at Audi dealerships, a departure from their music background. Describing their dual roles as “amazing” and akin to having two identities, the sisters expressed pride in their diverse professions.

Recent reports revealed that Gabriela started working at a Hyundai dealership in York, while Monica secured a position at a different Hyundai dealership in Lincolnshire. Emphasizing the need for a stable business, Monica highlighted the resilience of the car industry amid uncertainties like the pandemic, acknowledging the importance of financial stability beyond entertainment gigs.

Gabriela shared her satisfaction with her new role and hinted at potential plans to establish their own dealership in the future, noting positive feedback from customers. Their mother, Margit, supported their career shift, recognizing the necessity of pursuing ventures beyond their Cheeky Girls persona and adapting to changing consumer trends, particularly in the automotive sector.

Despite their initial novelty act image, The Cheeky Girls achieved notable success in music, with their debut track reaching number 2 on the UK charts and selling over 1.2 million copies worldwide. Their discography includes popular songs like Take Your Shoes Off and Have a Cheeky Christmas.

The twins’ journey into the world of car sales signifies a strategic career move reflecting their adaptability and forward-thinking approach to sustaining their livelihoods beyond the entertainment industry.
