“Conor McGregor Skips White House Fight, Eyes July Return”

Conor McGregor has officially confirmed that he will not be participating in the upcoming UFC event at the White House. Initially rumored to headline on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor is now anticipated to make his return to the octagon in July instead. UFC CEO Dana White is set to announce the White House card, expected to exclude McGregor’s name, with the Irish fighter scheduled to return on July 11.

Speaking to Smash Cast, McGregor revealed, “I was prepared for the White House matchup against Chandler. It would have been an exciting fight as Chandler is a formidable opponent. However, the plan has shifted, and I am now looking towards the International Fight Week in the future.”

McGregor also disclosed that he will be returning to the cage at welterweight, stating, “I will fight at 170 pounds as I have bulked up significantly. While I was open to facing the proposed opponent, no contract has materialized yet. I am eager to get back into action and hope for a favorable offer soon.”

The White House event may now feature Jon Jones making his comeback against former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205-pound title.
