Immigration officials reportedly prevented a doctor from providing medical assistance to Renee Nicola Good, a mother of three who was fatally shot by an ICE officer, using callous language. The doctor, whose identity remains undisclosed, asked the officers if he could check for a pulse following the shooting incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota. However, the ICE agents allegedly obstructed him, disregarding his profession when he identified himself as a physician.
Subsequently, another agent informed the doctor that Emergency Medical Services were en route and assured him that they had their own medical personnel at the scene. The exchange was captured on video, with a woman heard shouting in distress about the delay in medical assistance. The tension escalated as the woman expressed her anguish over the tragic outcome of the incident.
The victim, 37-year-old Renee Good, lost her life during an enforcement operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. The incident sparked controversy in the United States, with conflicting narratives emerging about the events leading to her death.
Footage of the incident depicted a masked federal agent firing multiple shots at Good’s vehicle, which then collided with another car after attempting to flee. The Department of Homeland Security defended the agent’s actions, claiming self-defense and accusing one individual of trying to harm federal officers. The DHS Secretary labeled the incident as an “act of domestic terrorism.”
In response, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the ICE officer’s actions as reckless and demanded their withdrawal from the city. He cited video evidence showing ICE agents firing at a vehicle as it tried to drive away, dismissing claims of self-defense. The mayor vowed to pursue justice and a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need to hold those responsible accountable for the tragic outcome.
Tensions escalated further in Minneapolis following the deployment of over 2,000 ICE agents for a major immigration operation, focusing on alleged fraud involving Somali residents. Mayor Frey expressed solidarity with immigrant communities and called for the immediate removal of ICE from the city, denouncing the chaos caused by federal enforcement actions.
The shooting took place near longstanding immigrant markets and close to the location where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020, prompting protests against the presence of law enforcement officials. Protesters gathered at the scene, condemning the actions of ICE and demanding their departure from Minnesota.
Donna Ganger, Renee Good’s mother, paid tribute to her daughter, describing her as a kind, compassionate individual who dedicated her life to caring for others. The community mourned the loss of Good, remembering her as a loving and remarkable person.
