A tennis enthusiast who gained online fame for supporting Emma Raducanu has been ejected from the Australian Open for disruptive behavior. James Bray caught attention when Raducanu acknowledged him after her win against Mananchaya Sawangkaew.
Wearing an ‘Australia’ tank top, Bray affectionately called Raducanu ‘Raddo’ throughout the match. Raducanu, in her post-match interview, thanked him and invited him to all her future matches.
Despite the initial recognition, Bray’s day took a turn for the worse during the match between Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe when his vocal support was deemed too disruptive, leading to his removal from the Rod Laver Arena.
Bray documented the incident on his Instagram story, showing police officers instructing him to leave for 24 hours and issuing a fine. He sarcastically remarked on being kicked out for being a passionate fan.
After being escorted out, Bray shared his mixed feelings about the situation, highlighting his innocence in supporting de Minaur. Tennis Australia verified that Bray had been warned multiple times before his removal due to disruptive behavior.
Victoria Police confirmed that 21 individuals were evicted from the tennis venue for various incidents, emphasizing the overall positive crowd behavior at the Australian Open.
