“Bulgaria Tops List for Affordable Summer Getaways”

Bulgaria has been identified as the top destination for an affordable summer vacation this year, particularly recommended for families. TravelSupermarket, a popular travel website, has disclosed the most economical countries for all-inclusive sunny getaways in 2026, with Bulgaria leading the list at an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long trip. Morocco followed in second place at £852 per person, with Malta ranking third at £862.

The data was compiled based on family holiday searches conducted between October 5 of the previous year and last week, targeting travel between May and September 2026. Significantly varying prices were observed across various sought-after destinations.

Among the 13 popular locations analyzed, the average cost for a week in Bulgaria decreased by £54 per person, representing a 7% drop compared to the previous summer. On the contrary, Cyprus was identified as the most expensive choice at £1,186 per person.

Spain, a perennial favorite among British tourists, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list with an average cost of £888 per person, showing little change from 2025. Turkey ranked 11th with an average cost of £1,057, while Greece occupied the 12th position at £1,096.

Croatia emerged as the 10th most cost-effective destination for this summer at an average of £1,046 per person. Notably, the typical expenses for a trip to Croatia have decreased by 12% since the previous year, making it £136 more budget-friendly this season.

For long-haul travel, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most budget-friendly option at £1,247 per person, followed by the United Arab Emirates (£1,297), the Dominican Republic (£1,664), and Mexico (£1,694).

Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed that Bulgaria seems poised to regain its status as the preferred budget-friendly all-inclusive destination. He also noted that Tunisia and Morocco continue to rank among the top five cheapest countries, offering excellent value for families. Additionally, the price drop in Croatia, particularly after adopting the Euro in January 2023, is seen as positive news for families previously deterred by the perceived high costs in that desirable location.
