Virgin Media is introducing a major upgrade to its TV platform, offering customers three new bonus channels at no extra cost. The telecommunications company has partnered with Rakuten to bring Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels to households this month.
The new channels include Rakuten TV Drama on Ch462, featuring popular movies like The Big Short, Gosford Park, and JFK. Rakuten TV Comedy on Ch463 offers comedies such as Big Momma’s House, The Internship, and Bedazzled. Additionally, viewers can tune into Rakuten TV: Sci Fi on Ch464 for a selection of sci-fi content.
The upgrade will be automatically available to Virgin TV 360 and Flex customers, with the channels easily accessible through the Virgin Media TV guide and voice control search. David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed excitement about the enhanced entertainment options, emphasizing the value of the new streaming channels without any additional charges.
With the addition of these new channels, Virgin TV customers now have access to a total of 40 FAST channels, expanding their viewing choices. While a subscription fee is required for Virgin Media TV services, the enriched channel lineup offers a superior selection compared to free alternatives.
