“Viewers Disappointed as Lorraine Show Shrinks”

Lorraine viewers expressed disappointment with the show’s new 30-minute format, implemented by ITV to cut costs. Starting on Monday, January 5, the Lorraine Kelly-led program airs from 9:30 am to 10:00 am and has relocated to a smaller studio in Covent Garden, London.

ITV management unveiled significant changes last year for daytime shows like Loose Women, This Morning, Good Morning Britain, and Lorraine, which will now only run for 30 weeks annually. However, some viewers were unimpressed with the alterations after the first day.

Concerns were raised by viewers, with one stating that the shortened time slot for Lorraine was hardly worthwhile. Another viewer pointed out that the actual show content was only 24 minutes without the commercials.

As part of the revamp, Lorraine, Loose Women, and This Morning bid farewell to their previous studio at Television Centre in White City, London, and have moved production to The H Club Studio, a former private members’ club.

The restructuring also involved the merging of production teams across the three shows, resulting in an estimated 200 job losses. Lorraine acknowledged the changes in the first episode of 2026, highlighting the continuity amidst the modifications.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror last month, Lorraine, 66, mentioned that while she didn’t have a say in the decisions, she understood the evolving nature of the television industry. She expressed relief that some jobs were retained, even if team members were reassigned to This Morning.

Criticism was also directed at the new studio, with viewers on social media commenting on its small and inexpensive appearance. Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment Division, explained that the changes aimed to enhance news coverage and generate savings for future investments in programming.
