A security expert is advising people in the UK to have an essential £8 item in their homes in preparation for a potential nuclear attack. This recommendation follows recent threats made by Russian officials, raising concerns about the possibility of World War Three erupting.
Russian senator Dmitry Rogozin has issued warnings that multiple defense-related sites in the UK, totaling over 20 locations, could be targeted. Rogozin shared a map containing 23 defense sites in the UK, including military and industrial facilities throughout the nation.
The ominous statements come after former British defense secretary Ben Wallace suggested rendering Crimea uninhabitable from a Russian perspective. Additionally, propagandist Vladimir Solovyov hinted at potential destruction of British targets, emphasizing the importance of preparedness in case of a nuclear strike.
Dr. Arnab Basu, CEO of Kromek Group plc, emphasized the significance of having window sealing tape, priced as low as £4, to minimize radioactive dust infiltration post-attack. Dr. Basu advised staying indoors, particularly in the central part of a building, for a few days after an incident to shield oneself from fallout.
Amid escalating tensions, the European Union has recommended that all households in its member states maintain three-day survival kits containing essentials like food, water, torches, matches, energy bars, and identification documents in a waterproof pouch. This initiative aims to enhance preparedness for potential conflicts, aligning with a broader strategy presented by EU crisis management commissioner Hadja Lahbib.
Lahbib highlighted the interconnected and complex nature of current threats facing Europe and encouraged citizens to follow preparedness guidelines. Several European countries, including Sweden, Norway, and Germany, have already implemented similar readiness measures to ensure public safety in the event of emergencies.
